*These are the novels, plays, and poems, I would bring with me onto a deserted island. I’ll try to type out my notes and a review for each as time allows. I bring this books up often in my talks and videos.
FICTION
- 1984
I’ve read this book nearly three dozen times, I’ll be posting some essays on the text soon. Specifically regarding how the text (unwittingly) is a screed against post-modernism.
- Blood Meridian
The entrance of the Judge is one of the great entrances of all books. So too his last scene. It’s an exploration of evil, the devil, and violence. The prose is probably the best in the English language since Conrad’s Heart of Darkness.
